FAQ

For MFR Treatments

What should I wear?

You should wear a 2-piece swimsuit, bra and underwear, or tank top and loose fitting shorts (or just shorts for men) that you are comfortable working and moving around in.

Please do not moisturize the day of your appointment, as I need to be able to engage the tissue without sliding.

What can I expect during a treatment session?

Each session will begin with a postural assessment and discussion of any current symptoms.

Then, depending on what is currently presenting itself, you will get on the table and hands-on treatment will begin with gentle, sustained compression and stretches.  It is not a passive treatment and I will most likely have you move into different positions to address various structures of the body.

How many sessions will I need?

Each person is unique in their healing process.  Some factors that may influence how quickly your body responds are: how long your symptoms have been present, how often you attend therapy, and your follow through with your home program.  In the beginning, 1-2 times weekly may be recommended to get you feeling better and to get a home program started.  I will work with you to customize a program to meet your individual needs.

 Will it hurt?

Please let me know if you feel pain even if it is somewhere where I am not directly working. Pain is the body’s way of telling us where to treat next. Therapeutic pain may hurt, but still feels good or productive. If the pain no longer feels therapeutic, let me know and I'll adjust the pressure accordingly.

Can I move during treatment?

Of course!  This is called ‘unwinding’.  If you feel like your body wants to move, then go ahead and allow it to.  I will support and keep you safe in that movement.

What should I do after treatment?

Take it easy and drink plenty of water.

What if I feel worse after treatment?

This can be a healing crisis.  Sometimes things get worse before they get better.  As we peel away the layers we may access old traumas, physical or emotional, that have not been fully resolved.  Stay with it, self-treat (I will discuss this with you), let your body move, and remember to breathe!  Listen to what your body is telling you. And be patient with yourself.

Remember, there are no instant fixes or cures.  It’s taken a lifetime to get where you are so it will most likely take some time to work through your pain. MFR can help!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to bring them up with me.

Cancellation Policy

Please notify me 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged for a missed visit.  If you are running late, your treatment time will be shortened as there may be another patient scheduled immediately following your appointment.
